A Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) is a legal document that establishes a partnership between a federal agency and a non-federal party to collaborate on research and development.

What is a FAR?

Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) contracts follow a set of rules that govern how the federal government and contractors buy and sell goods and services.

What is a Cooperative Agreement?

A Cooperative Agreement (CA) is a financial aid mechanism that is a cross between a grant and a contract. It’s a legal instrument that involves a sponsor and a recipient working together to achieve a common goal.

What is an OTA?

An Other Transaction Agreement (OTA) is a legal contract between the federal government and a non-profit research institution that’s not a grant, cooperative agreement, or federal contract. OTAs are used to streamline research and development, prototype development, bring innovative research findings and prototypes from industry to the government, help fast-track research initiatives, and leverage flexible processes that reduce risk.
