ETC is proud to partner with NSWC Indian Head Division to deliver impactful, hands-on STEM and workforce development programs that inspire the next generation of talent in Charles County. In Fiscal Year 2026, these collaborative efforts reached more than 450 local students through 50 STEM engagement events and nearly 500 instructional hours.

Key Programs Include:

• Naval Energetics Technology Apprenticeship Program (NETAP) — A multi-week paid internship for rising high school juniors and seniors. Students design, build, and compete with remote-controlled underwater vehicles (ROUVs), gaining practical skills in power tools, soldering, Python programming, and energetics.
• Summer Camps — Immersive camps focused on rocket design, robotics, cybersecurity, and energy sciences.
• After-School and Community Workshops — Ongoing programs at local libraries, Boys & Girls Clubs, and the science center covering video game design, introduction to engineering, chemistry, and 3D printing.
• Career Awareness Events — Career days, STEM nights, school visits, and interactive demonstrations.

In addition to structured programs, ETC and NSWC IHD actively support major community events such as the HITS Expo, Charles County Fair STEM booths, and community roadshows. These feature compelling, real-world Navy technologies including EOD robots, ejection seats, munitions, and live chemistry demonstrations—giving students and families direct exposure to exciting career possibilities.

These initiatives provide meaningful, hands-on experiences in energetics, robotics, autonomous systems, cybersecurity, and energy sciences. By raising awareness of opportunities at NSWC IHD—one of Charles County’s largest employers—the programs create a deliberate talent pipeline that transforms student interest into the skilled workforce essential to the command’s critical mission and the broader Department of Defense.
